So the end of one of my favorite shows was on Sunday. I’ve been a fan of this show since the first episode five seasons ago. It started off a little rocky but it was always consistent. The ending was a good way to tie up the many loose ends that shows tend to leave.
So not to spoil it but there was a whole lot going on. Ari quit his job in order to take some time and refocus on his marriage. This is big news if you follow the show and know how much Ari loves his job and making money. He finally realizes that money isn’t everything and some things like family are more important than others. They decide to go to Italy for a year to rekindle their old love. Another surprise to come later…
Sloan is pregnant! Yep, and she and Eric broke up. Being the brothers that they are Turtle, Drama and Vince step in to try and save their relationship only to make things worse. Turtle and Drama have convinced Sloan to give Eric another chance while Vince talks to Sloan’s father. The problem with that is that Sloan hasn’t told her father that she is pregnant. Vince assumes that she has and lets it slip that she is. After telling Eric what happened, Eric then tells them not to do anything else and he’ll handle it. Of course they don’t listen. Vince talks Sloan into giving Eric another shot.
Here’s the big surprise. Vince is getting married!!! Yep he’s getting married and in Paris at that. He’s marrying this journalist named Sophia that he has fallen head over heals for. She’s smart, attractive and nothing like any other girl he’s ever Been with. He buys her a $1.4 million ring and he’s in the jewelry store when Sloan’s father calls and he mistakenly delivers the news about the baby.
Okay so they all get on a plane to Paris except for Eric. Vince has arranged for him to have his own plane. When he turns around there’s another jet awaiting him with Sloan standing next to it. They exchange hugs and he goes off to leave with her. Later on Ari and his wife are in Italy together when the phone rings. Its John from the studio. He says that he has been calling and emailing Ari for a while trying to track hi. Down. He has an offer that he feels like Ari can’t refuse. Ari thinks that he wants him to become the new studio head but that’s not the case. He wants Ari to replace him as the chairman and CEO of it all. A film division that grosses $4 billion, a television network and 3 premium cable networks. John doesn’t expect an answer right away and gives him a week to consider his offer and they hang up. His wife then comes back and asks who it was. He says it was the cable company to see if they need anything. As she walks away you can see the tough decision that needs to be made is weighing heavily on his mind. Does he come back and take the position and risk his marriage or does he not take it and lose out on the biggest career move ever?
The episode and series ends with this scene. I think they may turn this into a spinoff with Ari taking the position and trying to work things out with his wife. I really hope they do something with this moment and not just leave it open ended like that. I know that it makes for great TV to leave the audience wanting for more but geesh give us something! Like I said I’ve loved this show since the beginning and I have stuck with it through the good and bad times. My favorite character is Turtle and I think I can relate and see a bit of myself in him. If you are jotnfami, iar with the show check it out, if you wait a few months then the entire series with probably be on DVD as a box set. I know I’ll be one of the first in line to get it.
I’m really gonna miss this show. Seems like all of the shows that I like are coming to an end. I guess its like they say, all good things must at some point come to an end.
