In every group, clique, or circle of friends there is always that one idiot or, for lack of a better term, asshole. Don’t be that one.

Jealousy is one of the worst, if not the worst, trait that a person can have. There can be no good that comes of it. Often people are jealous or envious of someone else because they do not realize that what they have is good enough already.

This reminds me of a story my grandmother would tell me. It was the story of the jealous dog. I’m sure you’ve all heard of it before in some form or another. Anyway, there was this dog that was happily walking with his favorite bone in his mouth. He happened upon a bridge and decided to cross.  As he crossed he peered over the side and saw what he thought to be another dog with a juicy bone. Only problem was that the other dog was actually him. As he looks at this other dog in the water with this Juicy bone he becomes jealous. He wants his bone as well as the other dog’s bone. He begins to growl at the other dog as to scare him away but that doesn’t work. He then decides that he will just jump in and take the bone. As the dog jumps in he drops his bone and falls in the water. The other dog that he thought was there has disappeared along with his original bone. Now this poor dog is soak and wet and not only that but he has lost his favorite bone.

The moral of the story is to be happy with what you have and not to worry about what someone else has or does. Unless you want to end up wet and empty handed.

“You exist because someone else doesn’t’.

When I say that then people automatically think of it in the religious sense of Jesus dying for our sins. This is true but that is not what I am referring to.  You exist because someone else doesn’t means that you are where you are because someone else is not so you need to enjoy and cherish where you are and what you have. Don’t take things for granted.

There is always someone willing and wanting to take your spot. your existence in that space is because they are not or cannot occupy it.  Often times people become complacent and take for granted that they are where they are. For every one person that makes it there are at least 5 or 6, if not more, that didn’t. You exist because they don’t.

Everything that you do has an effect on someone else good or bad. This happens in every situation and no matter what we’re doing.  Everyday is an opportunity to improve on what we did the day before. You exist because someone else doesn’t.

life is not promised and we must be sure that we take advantage of every single opportunity that is presented to us. Someone else’s misfortune can be your fortune and vice versa. You exist because someone else doesn’t.

Often times we attribute our successes to all the good deeds that occurred but we must not forget the many attempts that it took us to get to that point of success. The 1,000′s of tries can be negated with just one success but if it had not been for those wrongs we might not have learned what we needed to do in order to make it right.

Supervising others is not a job for everyone. Some people are not leaders. I feel that leaders should be able to lead and motivate. There should not be any doubt as to who is in charge.

Leaders should lead.

Sometimes it’s hard to just let go of certain things or people but it is necessary. Holding on to that baggage is not good for your health or mental well being. Just let it go. If people don’t like it then let them go as well. No one needs that negativity in their life.

People must be able to accept you for who you are and not for what you are. You should never feel that you need to change who you are just to please someone else that in reality probably doesn’t even like you all that well. Just be yourself.

This its not a free pass to just become an asshole to people under the guise of “just being you” but it should allow you a bit of freedom to do things the way that you would like without fear of ridicule.

I may be wrong but I think people are too caught up in what others think of them. As long as you can live with the decisions that you’ve made then so can I. If your decision does not affect me then why should I care what it is? Does that sound selfish? If so then it just has to be that way.

We worry too much about was others around us are doing and not enough about what it is that we are doing and in some cases not doing. Its time that we sweep around our own front door before we try to sweep around someone else’s. The change must first come from within. We must change ourselves before we can even think about changing someone else.

Happiness to me is sometimes all that matters. Our own happiness should be first propriety. Its great try and make the other people around us happy but it should never come at the expense of own sense of happiness. Happyness is a direct link to sanity. Don’t let the actions of someone else influence your happiness and well being. You are the captain of your own ship so don’t let just anyone come along and rock your boat.

Winning is not everything but the will to win is.

I think that at times we put too much emphasis on finishing first.  It’s great to finish first , yes.  It’s better to know that no matter where you finish, first last or in between, that you did your best and gave it your all.  There is less emphasis on doing the best that you can and too much emphasis on the outcome.  I am one of those that believes that by giving your all and trying your hardest you are already a winner.

This is not The ballad of Ricky Bobby.  People seem to truly live by the mantra “If you’re not first you’re last”.  While it makes for a great line in a comedy it does not make good sense in reality.  everyone can’t be first, someone has to come in last.  You can all be winners if you give it your all and try your best.
