Okay so I’m always down for change. My question to the 99% folks is once you occupy wall street and other places then what? What is your next move?

The problem that I have is that they have so much on their agenda that it conflicts and contradicts itself at times. It won’t matter if you get free education if there aren’t any jobs for you to support yourself. I think that there are a number of jobs that are available but people just aren’t willing to do them. Swallow your pride and pick up a broom! Another thing that I see a number of from the 99%ers is that they have huge student loan debt! They talk about having, for example, $80,000 in student loan debt for a job that pays at most $40,000 if lucky. Now that is stupid! The majority went to ‘big name’ or ‘well known’ universities (their words not mine) that netted them this big debt. Guess what, that’s your fault not mine. You went to this big school and paid all that money for a major in something that you knew wouldn’t make the money you wanted then you complain about it and blame others. No one told you to major in French, now you can’t find a job teaching French so you’re working for minimum wage at McDonald’s. Once again that’s your own fault.

Now some of these stories are really sad and I realize that they are in their position not because if something that was their fault. I get it. I understand their plight but the rest can miss me with that bullshit.

What’s funny is that they have the occupy Atlanta here and when they interviewed some of the participants they couldn’t tell you why they were there and the purpose of it all. The same goes for occupy wall street. The ones in Atlanta seemed to be doing it just because other people are doing it. I mean complaining about being poor and living check to check but driving up to the protest in Mercedes, BMW’s, and Audi while staying in $1,000 tents? Come on son. You can’t be real.

Look, like I said I’m all for protesting and trying to affect change but it has to be organized. You just make yourself look crazy and unorganized and no one with real power will take you seriously.

Okay. So here is my problem. Well, I take that back. Its not really a problem. My issue is with this whole ‘its okay to be gay’ campaign or movement or whatever is going on. While I am not homophobic I do feel some kind of way about it. Its not really the campaign or movement itself but moreso the whole attitude around it. Some of these campaigns are so aggressive that it makes me think ‘damn is something wrong with me for being heterosexual?’ Seriously.  I feel that way sometimes.

While I’m all for individuality and being comfortable I your own skin don’t make me feel bad because I’m not like you. I know people in the gay community are going to say that this happens to them all the time, which is true, but at the same time if you know how that makes you feel then why do that to someone else?

The whole it gets better campaign is cool but damn if it doesn’t make you feel worse if you’re getting picked on and you’re not gay. Does it get better for them? You know gay kids aren’t the only ones getting bullied and/or committing suicide. I’m not saying to stop with the whole it gets better thing but they should be mindful that there are more kids getting bullied for other things than being gay and they probably feel worse than the kids who chose to be gay.

I know that they say that they are born gay and all and for some of them that may be the case but definitely not all. I know of 3 couples that are gay because of past relationships gone bad and if the right person of the opposite sex came along they would be back to their heterosexual selves. Nowadays being gay is the cool thing to do in high school. Its not about a real relationship or feelings for the same sex it’s about what everyone else is doing on TVs or around campus. Seriously.

And on another topic closely related. I was talking to a Co worker of mine one day. We were just discussing different shows, actors and actresses that we liked. While we were discussing actresses she Brought up Nikki Blonsky. For those that don’t know, she has been in a number of movies such as hairspray, and some other crap I don’t Care to mention. Anyway we started talking about the roles that she played and realized that she always.played.fat people that were wronged because they were fat. She’s like an advocate for fat people. Seriously. I said that I didn’t like her because of this. I don’t like anyone to tell.me that I have to like them regardless of their size, gender, race or sexual preference. I don’t have to like you just because of that and I don’t have to accept you just because of that. Her whole stance is that I should.except her because she’s fat no matter what. No ma’am. Not happening. I like people regardless of what they look like or who they choose to date. That stuff doesn’t matter to me.

Now I know I’m going to catch a bit of flack for my statements but I really don’t care. I feel how I feel and I know I’m not alone. As I said I support the whole ‘it gets Berger’s campaign or movement but sometimes it does make me wonder if there is something wrong with me for being straight according to the videos in the campaign. Does it get better for kids that aren’t being bullied because they are gay but for other reasons?

Okay, so I’m only going to address this once, I’m probably lying and will talk about it again at some point but anyway. All you adults or should I say people over the age of say 18 need to stop with all the hate on Willow Smith and Justin Beiber. I mean honestly these kids! If you don’t like it then so what! It wasn’t meant for you in the first place. You have got to be some kind of low life person to hate on a 9 year old girl making music for other 9 year old girls. Like for real, that’s what it’s come to?

I admit, I am a little sick of hearing them both but I’m also sick of hearing waka flocka as well. It’s not that I don’t like Willow and Justin but to hear ten constantly everyday can be a bit much. I actually like the songs but on repeat all day everyday would drive me crazy. There is a difference between hating on the repetition and hating on the artist.

It just amazes and angers me to see grown people on twitter, Facebook, tumblr, and all these other forms of social networking hating on some kids that are making music for other kids. Key phrase is kids making music for OTHER KIDS! If you’re over say 16 and you like them then fine but if you’re over 16 and hating then there is something definitely wrong with you. I mean they make music for their age group. You may be too old to whip your hair and not get dizzy, I know I am trust me I tried, but that doesn’t give you the right to hate.

Children should respect their elders but the elders must respect the children as well. It is a two way street.

You know what gets on my nerves?  When people that are fairly attractive and have been told this their entire life begin to feel some sort of entitlement because of it. Just because society has deemed you as pretty does not mean that you get a free pass from me. Child please.

I was watching an old episode of 30 Rock on Netflix that made me think about it.  This was the episode where Liz Lemon was dating this seemingly perfect guy that I believe was a doctor. He kept getting away with things because he was handsome while she couldn’t seem to get anything done because she was what society says isn’t pretty. Of course if you follow the show then you know that Liz Lemon can’t keep a man so she ends up breaking up with him.

Do ‘pretty’  people realize how they manipulate the system or have they done it for so long that it seems like second nature?  Hmmm. I think it may be a little of both. While some are not aware and think that it is just others being nice to them for whatever reason, there are those that know this game and play it well. If you are of the latter I hate you. From the bottom of my heart and depth of my soul. You are ruining it for the average, normal looking (I.E. the ones that aren’t on the fine list but not ugly either. The “cute” ones)  people like me. Stop it.

Sometimes it’s hard to just let go of certain things or people but it is necessary. Holding on to that baggage is not good for your health or mental well being. Just let it go. If people don’t like it then let them go as well. No one needs that negativity in their life.

People must be able to accept you for who you are and not for what you are. You should never feel that you need to change who you are just to please someone else that in reality probably doesn’t even like you all that well. Just be yourself.

This its not a free pass to just become an asshole to people under the guise of “just being you” but it should allow you a bit of freedom to do things the way that you would like without fear of ridicule.

I may be wrong but I think people are too caught up in what others think of them. As long as you can live with the decisions that you’ve made then so can I. If your decision does not affect me then why should I care what it is? Does that sound selfish? If so then it just has to be that way.

We worry too much about was others around us are doing and not enough about what it is that we are doing and in some cases not doing. Its time that we sweep around our own front door before we try to sweep around someone else’s. The change must first come from within. We must change ourselves before we can even think about changing someone else.

The first thing I do in the new pool? Remove a chipmunk that drowned. I know ewww and eecckk right? Everybody knows that I don’t do rodents of any kind dead or alive so in order for me to get it out I needed the strength and guidance from God, Jesus, Joseph, and Mary! And throw in Buddah as well!
I got it out but I don’t know if I’m going to be swimming anytime soon.

One thing that I really hate is when people say ‘you know you shouldn’t be eating/drinking that because you’re diabetic’. That really does aggravate me and I am so easily tempted to tell them to shut the fu_k up! Every case of diabetes is different. There is no one disease fits all. Just because your aunt, grand parent, sibling, or parent had it and couldn’t do this or that doesn’t mean that I can’t. Unless you’re a certified dietician/nutritionist and you are familiar with my medical history then again, shut the fu_k up!
I understand that you are trying to help and all and I appreciate the effort but you’re really not. A piece of fruit will raise my levels the same as this piece of candy. People really need to research and learn more about stuff before they try and give out advice. That goes along with other things in life as well.
If you have never been in my situation how can you tell me how to act or not react? Seriously. Think before you speak.

So My census paperwork came in the mail today.  I’m assuming this came for some other folks as well because on twitter there was this buzz on my time line complaining about the census using “Black, African American or Negro” on the check-box.  Who cares! Just fill the paperwork out and move on!  These are the same folks that go around calling each other nigga but get offended at the term Negro.  Really? Really? Better yet, don’t fill it out over something that stupid, but don’t complain when your schools are overcrowded, The hospital is overrun and understaffed, the bus has stopped coming and there are no community centers or jobs in your area.  That’s what the census is for stupid!

The next argument was ‘well how come they don’t put white or Caucasian? Or any other race’? Simple because we are the only ones that feel the need to change the category every few years.  We, as in my race, decided to change the name every 4-5 years so you can’t get mad at the census people for trying to keep up by putting the most popular ones on there.  White people have always been called white.  They added negro because some older people don’t go by the politically correct term African American or black.  I know my grandmother and grandfather don’t.  They are Negroes and don’t go by African American.  So in an effort to be inclusive to all generations of ‘Blacks, African Americans, or Negroes’ they put them all on there.  If you are that offended then there is a section for you to write in your own ethnicity.  Feel free and have at it.

Let’s keep it all the way funky, while I am not a big proponent of classifying people by race, when it comes to the census it may be for a reason.  While I admire these fools for trying to stand for something, though I’m not sure what, you have to pick your battles in order to win the war.  Basically fill out and mail back the damn form!  Sheesh!  It’s really not that serious!   Don’t try and make this one more thing to complain about that we really don’t need to be  focusing  on.  “We can’t move forward, until you mail it back”.

You know what. I really hate when people interject and then subsequently take over the conversation. That shit really irks me. Seriously. If you let me finish my statement then you’ll most likely see that we agree. Instead of just jumping in and taking over the conversation after only my second sentence.
I hate when people don’t respect other people’s opinions. Agree or disagree its their opinion. Its even worse when they hijack the conversation and I never end up getting my point across.
This is why I blog/write. I am able to get my entire point across, without interruption, before someone stops me to interject what they think I mean. After I have gotten my point across then, and only then, should you jump in and voice your agreement or disagreement. I’m just sayin’, let me finish!

Last night I was responding to a status update on twitter about interracial dating. I won’t get into all the details but one of the comments that this one girl left said and I quote

“i have a problem with black men who date white women bc they feel as tho they dont want to deal with black women, like their mommas or sisters arent black. that is what pisses me off. Now when black women go to white men, thats because we have exhausted all of our possibilities. which is why im lookin for a chad tatum..looll..and what gets me is when they are with their girls and lookin @ me..no baby dont look over here..u like white girls..”
Now you know I had to respond back with this
“it might not have anything to do with your race. I’m just sayin’… interracial dating is fine with me as well. Its a preference. I do find it funny that if a black man dates a white woman then something’s wrong or he thinks less of black women but when a black woman dates a white man it’s because she’s “exhausted all of our possibilities’”? C’Mon son GTFOHWTBS!! for real! That’s the same as saying black women date white men b/c they don’t want to deal with black men. Same thing! Who you choose to date or not date is a preference and everyone has a right to choose who they want to date as well as not date. The whole black vs white, we off that!”

Of course she quipped back with some more nonsense but my father always told me to never argue with fools because people can’t tell from afar who’s who.  This conversation got me thinking and you know when I think only bad things can come of it! Anyway, obviously this young lady was raised to think that she can only date black men and that something is wrong with dating outside one’s own race.  I think when we teach our kids that they can’t date or something is wrong with dating a person of a certain race or religion we are doing them a major disservice.
Growing up I was never told whom I could or couldn’t date. I was always told to date whoever made me happy whether they were Black, White, Hispanic, Asian, Jewish, Muslim, Christian or whatever. It doesn’t matter. I have learned so much by dating and being around people other than what it looked like at my home than I can think of.  Look, there’s nothing wrong with being proud of your race or religion and wanting to stick to that. If that’s your thing then run with it but just know that you are missing out on an entire world of possibilities.  You can learn so much about yourself just from learning about another culture.  I was raised Christian but I have also read the Quran, and thumbed through the Torah with a few of my Jewish friends.  There’s nothing wrong with being open to other religions and cultures.
Now what really had me a little upset with this young lady’s comment was that she feels that the majority of black men that date white women do so because they don’t want to deal with black men (which is very untrue and just a myth that keeps circulating by people like her) yet she feels that black women date white men because they have exhausted all of their possibilities.  That’s the same thing!! She just re-worded it to make it sound good in her favor. Exhausted all of their possibilities? Really? Sounds like those black women don’t want to deal with black men to me. I’m just saying though. Oh and she’s looking for her Chad Tatum,  I assume she meant Channing Tatum.  Foolishness. To limit ourselves is only damning ourselves.  Think about it.

People at times get too hung up on tradition. I do believe traditions are useful and some should be continued and passed on from generation to generation, but only the ones with purpose.  Some traditions were born out of necessity and should be retired. For example, when I was moving out on my own my mom gave me some recipes.  In them I notices that it always said stir with a wooden spoon.  When I asked her  why they all said use a wooden spoon she said that she wasn’t sure and that she got the recipes from my grandmother who got it from her mother.  I then asked my grandmother why I needed to stir all my food with a wooden spoon and she said that I didn’t have to.  When I told her that I saw her and my mom always using one and it was in the recipe book she made me she just laughed.  She was laughing because the only reason why my great grandmother used a wooden spoon was because that was the only spoon she had! That became a tradition that was passed down for 3 generations or more that was initially born out of necessity that could be retired.
I’m not sure about this young lady’s case but maybe the women in her family dated black men out of necessity and it became a tradition. That tradition was probably started back when it was illegal or literally life threatening to date outside of your race and that was passed on from one generation to the next of how it is supposed to be.  Nowadays that is not the case and that tradition should be retired.  Now the tradition of teaching cultural open mindedness was passed on to me and it shall be passed on to Boogie as he passes it on to his child and so on and so forth.
Stupidity is a tradition that was not born out of necessity but has been passed down from generation to generation and it needs to be retired.  To learn is to grow.
