While this is only a threat for now, I do believe that North Korea is very capable of carrying out this threat.  They have already vowed to have a physical response to the drills that the U.S. and North Korea plan on starting Sunday (7/25/10).  I don’t think that this is just some idle threat that should be taken lightly even though that’s probably how some of the people in power feel.  We are not invulnerable and we can be touched. Never underestimate a crazy man, especially one with a large army and nuclear weapons.

The U.S. military doesn’t seem to take this threat seriously because there was ‘no sign of significant troop movement’ but how significant of a movement do you expect.  If they are planning a nuclear attack or response then there is not a need for a significant amount of troop movement.  This may be something that they said just to throw us off and downplay the situation though.  who knows.

North Korea is a major foe with major nuclear power at its disposal.  Threats like these should not be taken lightly and some type of resolution should try to be reached before this gets ugly. Or is it too late for that?

So I’ve been following the situation with North Korea (click here) for a little while now and this new move surprisingly doesn’t come as much of a shock to me.  I knew that eventually Kim Jong Il was going to declare some type of act of war against the South.  It was written on the wall.  This latest move just solidified it for me.  Check it out here. This move came after south Korea announced and made public their report that showed evidence that North Korea sunk one of their Naval warships killing 147 people, also announcing that they would be cutting some of their trades and denying permission for the North Korea cargo ships to pass through their waters.  Kim Jung Il is not one to take this lying down.  He has threaten military action because of this and we already know that he’s capable of doing damage.  Here’s a report and proof of them sinking a South Korean Warship back in March.  Click here for the story.

South Korea is already readying their troops as well, just as a precaution. President Obama has already told his military commanders to be prepared for a response in case something does happen.  so I ask again, do you feel that we can fight two wars on two different continents effectively?

As I read this article on CNN about women earning more than men I began to think about my own situation.  According to the article more women are out earning their spouses, at times they may make double the amount.  This can be attributed to a number of things.  One of the major things is that more women are getting advanced degrees than men are. Another issue is the economy and unemployment.  More men are being laid off then their female counterparts.  In my experience, when you get laid off, then most of the time you’re looking to find some type of work whether its more or less than you  were making before.  You just want some type of income to help take care of the household until you can get something better.  this may also lead to the disparagement in pay. He may find that less paying job and work his way back to what he was making before or higher.  since he was laid off then he is essentially starting over, while she is consistently moving forward.

I have no problem with my wife making more money than I do.  It all goes into the same pot right? Right.  I can honestly admit that while I make a decent salary, my Wife’s salary is almost double.  The fact that I am not just slumming it and I am actually attempting to make things better by working as well as going to school, its not seen as such a big obstacle to us.

Though it is not a major obstacle, this can cause stress.  When one person is bearing the weight of the finances things can become tense.  While I feel that I contribute, because I don’t make as much as she does it is not an equal distribution.  Now if a woman is consistently throwing it in her husband’s face that she is the breadwinner and he is somehow beneath her because he makes less than her, that is when the problems begin. When things get tight communication is always key.

I know that tradition and society dictates that the man is supposed to be the head of the household.  That entails bringing home the ‘bacon’ and the wife cooking it.  As times change so do those traditions.  Now it’s more likely that both the husband and the wife work, or the wife could work while the husband stays at home.  The roles and responsibilities are now shared as opposed to one person making all the rules.

While some men may feel emasculated by this, I think that it’s great that women are out there earning money and bringing it into the household, even if it is more than her male counterpart.

I just finished setting up my classes’ syllabus and tasks on my google calendar and syncing it with the Crackberry and I noticed that I have two assignments due pretty much every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from today until May 10th!  I thought Distance learning was supposed to be for folks that have full time jobs as well? Geesh!!  I’m not sayin’ but I’m just sayin’!

When I signed up for this school I thought it would be easier on my schedule since I work full time.  I applied and was accepted to a couple of the traditional “Brick and Mortar” schools  in my area but I chose to do distance learning because I liked the flexible schedule.  I am definitely going to have to get it in this semester and buckle down.  No more procrastination for me, I can’t afford to waste any time.  I graduate in November and I am not going to fail some class, have to repeat it, and miss my November 19th graduation date. Nope. Not gonna happen.  I have too much to do to get setback or tripped up.

The classes are not hard and seem interesting. I’m taking Fundamentals of Management and World Literature.  The bookworm in me is already digging the reading assignments for World Lit.  The management class… Ehh not so much (in my best Borat voice).  This is a class that I need since I’m majoring in Business Management.  So, yeah I might need to pay attention.  I think it would help if my instructor didn’t sound like Ben Stein.  Every time I hear him all I think is “Bueller?  Bueller?  Bueller?”  just drones on and on and on!!  I did read through some of the required reading for the class and it does seem interesting and I will learn a whole lot but I will definitely stay away from the live chats.

This is not something that I will quit.  Anything I set my mind to doing then I can do.  I am convinced and confident.  There is no room for error and losing is not an option.  “Never say Never”.  Sorry just had a fievel moment.  Now back to work. Chop! Chop!

So My census paperwork came in the mail today.  I’m assuming this came for some other folks as well because on twitter there was this buzz on my time line complaining about the census using “Black, African American or Negro” on the check-box.  Who cares! Just fill the paperwork out and move on!  These are the same folks that go around calling each other nigga but get offended at the term Negro.  Really? Really? Better yet, don’t fill it out over something that stupid, but don’t complain when your schools are overcrowded, The hospital is overrun and understaffed, the bus has stopped coming and there are no community centers or jobs in your area.  That’s what the census is for stupid!

The next argument was ‘well how come they don’t put white or Caucasian? Or any other race’? Simple because we are the only ones that feel the need to change the category every few years.  We, as in my race, decided to change the name every 4-5 years so you can’t get mad at the census people for trying to keep up by putting the most popular ones on there.  White people have always been called white.  They added negro because some older people don’t go by the politically correct term African American or black.  I know my grandmother and grandfather don’t.  They are Negroes and don’t go by African American.  So in an effort to be inclusive to all generations of ‘Blacks, African Americans, or Negroes’ they put them all on there.  If you are that offended then there is a section for you to write in your own ethnicity.  Feel free and have at it.

Let’s keep it all the way funky, while I am not a big proponent of classifying people by race, when it comes to the census it may be for a reason.  While I admire these fools for trying to stand for something, though I’m not sure what, you have to pick your battles in order to win the war.  Basically fill out and mail back the damn form!  Sheesh!  It’s really not that serious!   Don’t try and make this one more thing to complain about that we really don’t need to be  focusing  on.  “We can’t move forward, until you mail it back”.

Shout out to my homie Taylor Swift for winning album of the year and selling the 2nd most records of 2009, behind Michael Jackson. I don’t care what anybody says, you deserved that award and it had nothing to do with Kanye.

You know who I don’t like? Beyonce stans! Not the fans but the stans. They feel like everything she does is so original and dope or that she should win every award she’s up for and even some that she’s not. C’mon son!

While I’m not knocking Beyonce, I think she has tremendous drive and is talented but I’m not really into her. I was saying on twitter during her 60 Minutes interview that I thought she was dense and does boring interviews and the stans came out! All they could talk about was that she was successful and had a bunch of money. I never said she wasn’t talented and rich but she does boring interview and it seems like at times she doesn’t grasp easy concepts that 90% of the world gets. That’s all. Hell, Bill Gates is paid and successful but does boring ass interviews! Get over yourselves!

What’s funny to me is people say Taylor Swift is this or she’s that but she is a talented young relatively new singer (only 2 albums in) that is receiving accolades for it. Just because black people that only listen to R & B and rap haven’t heard of her doesn’t mean she isn’t talented! There’s more music out there other than Beyonce and Gucci Mane. Open your minds people!
