So last night I finally went to see Black Swan and all I can say is wow. This movie is really good and can be a bit intense at times.
It’s hard for me to talk about it without giving the story away or spoiling anything just in case you haven’t seen it. I honestly think that this is one if the best movies that I’ve seen in a long time. That’s a lot coming from me because I watch an enormous amount of tv and movies.
The movie is your classic battle between good and evil that we wage within ourselves. I really want to talk about this movie but I’m afraid I’ll give away something important. Just go and see it and trust me you won’t leave the theater disappointed.

Okay, so I’m only going to address this once, I’m probably lying and will talk about it again at some point but anyway. All you adults or should I say people over the age of say 18 need to stop with all the hate on Willow Smith and Justin Beiber. I mean honestly these kids! If you don’t like it then so what! It wasn’t meant for you in the first place. You have got to be some kind of low life person to hate on a 9 year old girl making music for other 9 year old girls. Like for real, that’s what it’s come to?
I admit, I am a little sick of hearing them both but I’m also sick of hearing waka flocka as well. It’s not that I don’t like Willow and Justin but to hear ten constantly everyday can be a bit much. I actually like the songs but on repeat all day everyday would drive me crazy. There is a difference between hating on the repetition and hating on the artist.
It just amazes and angers me to see grown people on twitter, Facebook, tumblr, and all these other forms of social networking hating on some kids that are making music for other kids. Key phrase is kids making music for OTHER KIDS! If you’re over say 16 and you like them then fine but if you’re over 16 and hating then there is something definitely wrong with you. I mean they make music for their age group. You may be too old to whip your hair and not get dizzy, I know I am trust me I tried, but that doesn’t give you the right to hate.
Children should respect their elders but the elders must respect the children as well. It is a two way street.

I’m really not into a bunch of the boycotting because most of the time people don’t stick with it long enough for it to start to make a difference. Boycotting a product or business for a day or weekend has no effect on their bottom line. Remember the stupid “don’t buy gas today to show the oil companies” thing that didn’t work? How’d that work out for ya? Gas was still just as high if not higher than the day before right? For all the people that want to boycott something first you need to get organized and let people know why you’re boycotting something. I’m not about to stop shopping at my favorite store without a good enough reason.
I noticed on Twitter that there was a hashtag to #boycotttarget. Now since Target is one of my favorite places I had to know why people were boycotting such a lovely place. I looked up the hashtag trying to find some answer and all I got was info that today is national coming out day. What does this have to do with Target? I had no idea either so I posed the question on twitter and my friend @writerchanelle let Kevin on the situation. Apparently Target is supporting homophobic candidates for office in Minnesota. Wow! Now me being the person that I am, my first question was ‘did they know this before they sponsored or endorsed this candidate’? And why is Target endorsing or sponsoring a candidate anyway? Both of these don’t make any sense.
I’m sure that if target was aware of this beforehand that they would not have endorsed or sponsored a homophobic candidate seeing as Izaak Mizrahi and Martha Stewart both have Target exclusive merchandise and there is no doubt that Mr. Mizrahi is gay right? The whole thing just makes no sense at all. There can only be a few explanations, someone is getting everyone all riled up for something that Target has no idea about or Target really is supporting homophobic candidates. I think that someone is getting people riled up for nothing. The only problem is that target hasn’t released a statement or anything. Whoever organized or is trying to organize this boycott probably never even contacted Target about the situation.
Look, all I’m saying is that before you start boycotting and jump on turn picket bandwagon you need to know all of the facts and not just what you see on a twitter hashtag or trending topic.

Oh by the way, I wrote this while shopping in Target. Take that take that take that!

After experiencing the Falcons game first hand I am officially a fan! Not so much of the Falcons but of football in general. See I’m a baseball and basketball type dude. I’ll sit and watch some baseball all day or hit up a Hawks game anytime but I wasn’t big on football. That us until I experienced the atmosphere at the dome. I’m thinking of getting season tickets next year.

In order to appreciate success we must first understand failure.
- Sincere
Often times we attribute our successes to all the good deeds that occurred but we must not forget the many attempts that it took us to get to that point of success. The 1,000′s of tries can be negated with just one success but if it had not been for those wrongs we might not have learned what we needed to do in order to make it right.
Just my thoughts

Its less than 2 months before general elections on November 2nd. Do you know enough about your candidates yet? If not then I suggest that you find out. These elections are more important than the presidential elections because these are the people that will have the most direct effect on your livelihood. You need that pothole fixed or street light bulb changed? Who are you gonna call to complain the president or your councilman? I hope you know its your councilman right? Right. Who you send to Washington to represent you is very important. If you don’t vote or just vote for anybody then you may end up hurting yourself and your neighborhood in the end. Vote for the person that you feel has your best interest at heart. This is a pivotal election year and you need to make sure that the people representing you really represent you. So go out there and find out about these people and I’ll see you at the polls on November 2nd.

Supervising others is not a job for everyone. Some people are not leaders. I feel that leaders should be able to lead and motivate. There should not be any doubt as to who is in charge.
Leaders should lead.

Sometimes the closest people to us and the ones that we consider family are not our blood. Just because someone is related to you doesn’t mean that you have to automatically get along with them or put up with whatever issues that they may have. To me, family is people that have my best interest at heart and will look out for my well being. Whether they are blood related or not, if they fit that description then I consider them family.
I’m not one of those people that believes that just because we’re related then we must automatically get along no matter what. Nope. Sorry I don’t operate that way. If that’s how you get down then fine but that’s not in me. I can’t see myself dealing with people that don’t respect me or consistently treat me a certain way just because we share the same DNA. That’s foolish to me. I’m too old to be dealing with foolishness.

So Boog is hopefully starting preschool at the end of August. I say hopefully because there is a waiting list and we’ll have to see how things go. I’m ready for him to start school and I think that he will do well. He already seems to be ahead of some of the other kids his age. Not to brag or anything and I know that every parent thinks that their child is a genius but I don’t care. I’ll admit it. I think that my child is the smartest, cutest, and best kid ever! *Kanye shrug*
This is going to be a a major step. I know that he’s ready but are we? Are we ready to send him off into the world to fend for himself? Well sort of. I mean I’m only talking pre-k here. Its not like he’s graduating from high school and going to college somewhere halfway across the world or something. I’m probably going to worry myself to death over this but hey I’m a new, first time parent. I’m entitled to freak out over the little things as well as the big ones. I’ll probably be just as nervous, and probably more, than he will be on that first day. That sleepless night before I’ll be up making sure that everything is in place so that things will run smoothly.
One of my major concerns is that since he is ahead of some of his peers that he may get into trouble. He’s not a mischievous child but when he’s done with his work he may try to find other ways to occupy his time and some teachers don’t recognize that as him needing more work or challenges but as him disturbing the other kids. One thing that he is that I’m not or wasn’t at his age is social. He is such the social butterfly just floating from Person to person and conversation to conversation. I still need to work on that but he seems to have it down to a science.
Children grow up so fast. It seems like yesterday I was holding Him in my arms at the hospital and now he’s about to be in school. Before you know it he’ll be applying for colleges. it’s true that time moves at its own pace and waits for no one.
That is all

Sometimes it’s hard to just let go of certain things or people but it is necessary. Holding on to that baggage is not good for your health or mental well being. Just let it go. If people don’t like it then let them go as well. No one needs that negativity in their life.
People must be able to accept you for who you are and not for what you are. You should never feel that you need to change who you are just to please someone else that in reality probably doesn’t even like you all that well. Just be yourself.
This its not a free pass to just become an asshole to people under the guise of “just being you” but it should allow you a bit of freedom to do things the way that you would like without fear of ridicule.
I may be wrong but I think people are too caught up in what others think of them. As long as you can live with the decisions that you’ve made then so can I. If your decision does not affect me then why should I care what it is? Does that sound selfish? If so then it just has to be that way.
We worry too much about was others around us are doing and not enough about what it is that we are doing and in some cases not doing. Its time that we sweep around our own front door before we try to sweep around someone else’s. The change must first come from within. We must change ourselves before we can even think about changing someone else.

“Happiness is unrepentant pleasure”. – Socrates
Happiness to me is sometimes all that matters. Our own happiness should be first propriety. Its great try and make the other people around us happy but it should never come at the expense of own sense of happiness. Happyness is a direct link to sanity. Don’t let the actions of someone else influence your happiness and well being. You are the captain of your own ship so don’t let just anyone come along and rock your boat.

So I passed my classes for this session. I wasn’t worried about my sociology class because that was a piece of cake. My accounting class was a different story. If you guys only knew the hell I had to go through then you would understand my excitement over passing and being done with that class.
First it started with the labs. I wasn’t able to log in and when I finally did all the dates for my assignments were expired so I couldn’t work on anything. After emailing my instructor, I was told to contact tech support who then in turn told me to contact my instructor. see a pattern forming here? They finally fix the dates and now I’m off to work on my first assignment. The pretest works fine, then I start on the study plan with no problems. Now its time for the post test to see if I’ve learned what I’m supposed to learn for this lesson. One problem, there is no post test! Seeing as this is pretty important I email my instructor who once again tells me to contact tech support and they once again inform me that my instructor has to change whatever the problem is and they can’t help me because of how the instructor set things up.
At this point I’m frustrated. This time I call my instructor and he assures me that he will look into the matter and have it fixed by the time the next assignment is due. It was never fixed. Then he has the never to take off points because it wasn’t done yet I couldn’t do it because I didn’t have access. That’s like penalizing someone for not wearing shoes when you know they don’t have feet! If I had proper access then I would have done the assignment duh!
Anyway, I’m glad to report that I still passed the class with a C even though I failed every lab assignment. There were 4 lab assignments and 4 papers due. Since I aced my papers it equated out to a C. I should have gotten a higher grade considering that I couldn’t fully complete the labs but at this point I’ll take a C if it means that I don’t have to deal with that instructor again.
Other than this last accounting class mishap school has been going pretty smoothly for me. I’m on track to graduate in november if all goes well. I’m ready to move on to the next level. Hopefully my next set of instructors won’t be as idiotic as this one was.
