In my continuing quest for a healthier me I have decided to try the couch to 5k program. I have already lost about 10 pounds this year so far by just watching my calorie intake and doing light to moderate exercise. Light to moderate meaning doing about 20-30 minutes on the treadmill twice a week. Now its time to step things up.

I encouraged some of my coworkers to join me on this voyage to go from the couch to running a 5k. Today is our first day. I’ll let you know how things turn out.

I was inspired to do this when a good friend of mine was constantly talking about how she was running, eating healthier, losing weight and just plain old feeling better about herself. This inspired me to want to feel better and look better too! Hopefully you’ll hear or read more from her later. We’re trying to work something out now so that she can blog about her experience and hopefully inspire more folks to want to live and eat right.

Now that I have an ipad 2 I’m thinking about jumping the android ship and getting an iPhone. I have been all about android and would never get any Apple products because I thought they were all just overpriced locked down versions on android. I’ve changed my tune.

I’m not really singing the praises of Apple or the ipad but I like it. I still use my android tablets but I find myself reaching for my ipad more. I’m currrently using and typing this on my HTC sensation which is android. I love android because I can change or use whatever features I want. The min thing I had against Apple was the amount of control over apps and such. After using the ipad 2 for about 2 weeks now I can say that the control is not as tight ars I thought.

Overall I have become a believer in the ipad 2. I’m not sure if I’m going to.love the phone though. If my experience is just as good with the phone as with the ipad then I should be okay. I’m so against change though. We’ll see when my contract is up.

After almost ten years of operation Iraqi Freedom and the occupation of Afghanistan the troops are finally coming home. If you recall about a year or so ago the president announced and I wrote a blurb about it, that the troops would be coming home. Now they are all, well almost all except for a few coalition troops that are staying to train the foreign troops then they will be home as well.

As a veteran of the Armed Forces I want to thank my service brothers and sisters for what they have done. I truly appreciate it. To the spouses, I know how you feel, since I have been both active and a dependent.you also sacrifice a lot back home while your spouse or loved one is away fighting for this country.

I pray that when they come home that they receive the care and respect that they deserve. Many will come back and need medical attention for the physical and mental toll that war and being away from family can cause. Post traumatic stress disorder is real and doesn’t just affect one branch or people on the front lines.

I’m just really excited that the troops are back and hopefully they will be for a long time.

Okay so I’m about 7 classes away from graduation and guess what? Nope I’m not really burned out, that happened last session. I’m actually thinking about changing my major. Yes ladies and gents I want to do something other than the thing that I have been studying and working toward for the last year or so. I take that back. I’m not really changing my major but more so the concentration. I am still majoring in business administration but my concentration is information technology. After one too many confusing coding classes I realize that maybe this is not for me. Now I want to just focus on management or entrepreneurial business. Either way I want out of the information technology business!

I thought that I’d like it because I love computers. I guess I am like those residents at the hospital that love medicine but can’t get past some of the horrific things in the emergency room.

If I focus on management I know I’ll definitely go on to get my MBA. Really who am I kidding even if I stick with my current selection I’ll still get my MBA. Who am I trying to fool?

I think I just may be a little overwhelmed right now. I might as well stick it out since I only have a few more classes left. Hopefully I will be graduating in June 2012.

Have you ever tried Lipton’s new flavored teas? Then again not sure if they are new or I’m just hearing about them. Either way they are great. I had the French vanilla version some months ago but I ran out
Yeah I was pretty bummed. I’ve been on the hunt for them for a few months and can’t find them anywhere.
So when I went to get some more regular and green tea I saw a bunch of different flavors. I decided on the cranberry pomegranate (pictured) to start things off. I’m going to try a number of the other flavors later.
The cranberry pomegranate green tea is amazing. As a type 1diabetic I use truvia instead of regular sugar in my tea but if I use this I don’t even use a sweetener. This stuff is the greatest and you have to try it.

Man I am so mad right now. I wish someone had told me a long time ago about the wonderful deliciousness that is Silk! I have been deprived of its greatness for far too long!!
So call me slow but I have never had Silk before. I am lactose intolerant so you would think that I would have tried it before but nope. I’m not very lactose intolerant its just that milk makes me “gassy” and well goes straight through me if you get my drift.
Silk is truly the nectar of the Gods! I’ve only had the chocolate and the pure almond dark chocolate ( pictured above). This stuff is like a Wendy’s frosty that’s melted. Just a thick chocolate smoothie.
Now you guys know that when I find something that I like I overdose in it and yep I think that I have already overdosed on Silk and its only been a week. I literally go through a carton a day by myself. See nobody in my house likes it but me. I guess its a gift and a curse. More for me but then on the flip side I see that I’m drinking too much!

So I last session of class ended on Nov 9th and my new session started on Nov 13th. Last session I didn’t do nearly as well as I should have. Mainly due to the fact that I didn’t turn in a few assignments. I know that I have to do better this session. No excuses.

This session is all about information technology. Actually, the rest of my classes are info tech classes. I have completed all my business classes and noe I’m moving into my specialty. I’m a little nervous about it. I mean I am no stranger to technology but on the flip side I’m not really into it like that. I mean I love having all the new gadgets but could care less about the inner workings of them. Ya know?

I will be so glad when this process is over and I have my degree. Its been a long journey and I’m almost done. I can see the finish line right over the hill. Now I just need the strength to climb the hill. Like the old saying goes ‘ you have to climb the mountain in order to enjoy the view’.

It’s that time again folks. Yep. Election time has come and its time to get involved. No matter who you decide to vote for or against. The key is to vote. If you don’t vote then your voice can’t be heard. No vote no voice. I used that to death during the last election and I’m going to use it again with this one!!

Anyway, my good friend Shercole of minorityweirdos.com and I have come up with a political blog called urbanepolitics.blogspot.com. Our goal is to educate you and help you cut through all of the gibberish and double talk. We want you to be well informed when you go to the polls as well as just about what’s going on in general. Ignorance is no excuse for the law.

Okay so I have so many things that I want to do but that I’m just not doing. Take that back. I’m doing them just not doing them well. I really want to start taking more pictures because it’s something that I love to do and I think that I have an eye for it but I just don’t have time. I’m also trying to start my own business but I don’t really have time for that either. Geesh.

I should be done with school in May. That’s a plus and one thing that I can scratch off of my growing to do list. I’m debating whether or not to just continue and get my master’s degree while I’m in the school mode. I just don’t want to get burned out half the way through. Maybe a semester or two break will be enough.

The bottom line is that I need to prioritize my life so that I can get things done. That last minute rushing is for the birds.

Okay so I’m always down for change. My question to the 99% folks is once you occupy wall street and other places then what? What is your next move?

The problem that I have is that they have so much on their agenda that it conflicts and contradicts itself at times. It won’t matter if you get free education if there aren’t any jobs for you to support yourself. I think that there are a number of jobs that are available but people just aren’t willing to do them. Swallow your pride and pick up a broom! Another thing that I see a number of from the 99%ers is that they have huge student loan debt! They talk about having, for example, $80,000 in student loan debt for a job that pays at most $40,000 if lucky. Now that is stupid! The majority went to ‘big name’ or ‘well known’ universities (their words not mine) that netted them this big debt. Guess what, that’s your fault not mine. You went to this big school and paid all that money for a major in something that you knew wouldn’t make the money you wanted then you complain about it and blame others. No one told you to major in French, now you can’t find a job teaching French so you’re working for minimum wage at McDonald’s. Once again that’s your own fault.

Now some of these stories are really sad and I realize that they are in their position not because if something that was their fault. I get it. I understand their plight but the rest can miss me with that bullshit.

What’s funny is that they have the occupy Atlanta here and when they interviewed some of the participants they couldn’t tell you why they were there and the purpose of it all. The same goes for occupy wall street. The ones in Atlanta seemed to be doing it just because other people are doing it. I mean complaining about being poor and living check to check but driving up to the protest in Mercedes, BMW’s, and Audi while staying in $1,000 tents? Come on son. You can’t be real.

Look, like I said I’m all for protesting and trying to affect change but it has to be organized. You just make yourself look crazy and unorganized and no one with real power will take you seriously.
