I think I just lost a dear and valuable friendship of over 31 years (yes I’ll be 32 on 12/31/11) because of their spouse. That is sad and disheartening but true. I guess she was sticking up for him and said some things to me that I don’t appreciate. Seeing as it was really none of her business to start with I simply told her that it was none of her concern and if the issue was that big of a deal than he can approach me as a man and discuss it. This did not sit well with her so she tells me that she doesn’t want to talk to me anymore and to go straight to Hell. Wow. Those are some strong words there.

Now this is not the first time someone has told me that. I take the high road and just tell her that it is fine. Now I contact him because I’m hoping that he is not around witnessing this and staying silent. After about an hour or two he texts me back and basically says that ‘it is what it is’. Really? so you cosigning the bullshit? We were like brothers all my life. We are only 9 months apart and he couldn’t come to me as a man and address a problem that I wasn’t even aware of us having. That hurts me more than anything.

I’m all for taking up for your man but watch how you do it and what you say to people. I’m not the one. I will cut you off quick and with no remorse. I don’t really play those type of games. There has to be a level of respect there. If you think that he can’t stick up for himself then that’s his “cross to bear”. It is not your responsibility to fight his battles. He is a grown ass man.

The whole thing started when I went home for the holidays. Every time I go home then something happens. Either I lose something or I get into an argument. Last time I lost my headphones and some clippers, this time I lost a friendship and had an argument over something stupid. I don’t have many people in my ‘circle of trust’ and to lose someone because of their spouse is not cool. I would never do that to my wife or anyone. I would encourage her to stick up for herself but I would never put myself in the middle of a dispute between her and a friend because frankly it’s none of my business. I get it that we are one and her problems are inevitably mine and vice versa but some situations are not for me to be a part of. I can support her by standing with her or behind her but it is not for me to get in the front and fight for her, especially if she is more than capable of doing so herself.

When I say check your spouse I don’t mean that in a derogatory subservient way. I mean that in the sense of not letting him or her get out of hand and say or do something that you both will regret. Like ruining a friendship and family connection of 31years. Take it how you feel but by not checking his spouse he let her mouth fingers write type a check that their joint account can’t cash! And to add insult to injury you do all of this over Facebook messaging when you have my number? You can’t even call me and talk this out? Tacky as all hell! That is another reason why I was upset and hurt over the situation. At least be a man/woman and address me with the situation face voice to face voice, hell since you’re already on the internet we could have used Skype. I am done with them both. This mess is out of hand. Check your spouse before they wreck all of your friendships.

Okay so I’m always down for change. My question to the 99% folks is once you occupy wall street and other places then what? What is your next move?

The problem that I have is that they have so much on their agenda that it conflicts and contradicts itself at times. It won’t matter if you get free education if there aren’t any jobs for you to support yourself. I think that there are a number of jobs that are available but people just aren’t willing to do them. Swallow your pride and pick up a broom! Another thing that I see a number of from the 99%ers is that they have huge student loan debt! They talk about having, for example, $80,000 in student loan debt for a job that pays at most $40,000 if lucky. Now that is stupid! The majority went to ‘big name’ or ‘well known’ universities (their words not mine) that netted them this big debt. Guess what, that’s your fault not mine. You went to this big school and paid all that money for a major in something that you knew wouldn’t make the money you wanted then you complain about it and blame others. No one told you to major in French, now you can’t find a job teaching French so you’re working for minimum wage at McDonald’s. Once again that’s your own fault.

Now some of these stories are really sad and I realize that they are in their position not because if something that was their fault. I get it. I understand their plight but the rest can miss me with that bullshit.

What’s funny is that they have the occupy Atlanta here and when they interviewed some of the participants they couldn’t tell you why they were there and the purpose of it all. The same goes for occupy wall street. The ones in Atlanta seemed to be doing it just because other people are doing it. I mean complaining about being poor and living check to check but driving up to the protest in Mercedes, BMW’s, and Audi while staying in $1,000 tents? Come on son. You can’t be real.

Look, like I said I’m all for protesting and trying to affect change but it has to be organized. You just make yourself look crazy and unorganized and no one with real power will take you seriously.

I must admit that I am guilty of ruining a number of relationships. Most of them because of my aloofness. I’m a loner and often secluded into my own little world. Its not that I don’t want to be around or communicate with people I just don’t. I also have this thing with groups and large crowds so that doesn’t help. That’s a major phobia along with trust issues that prevent me from participating in certain interactions and situations. I have decided that it is time for me to mend some of these broken fences. I need to reconnect with the people that I hold dear and hold me dear. Reconciliation is good for the mind, body and soul.

I’m starting with my parents. I don’t talk to them nearly as much as I should. I know that they probably feel some kind of way about it, especially my mom who has voiced how she feels about it to me on several occasions. Its not that I don’t want to keep in touch or something happened to make me not keep in touch or anything. I just don’t. I must do better.

Next is a host of friends that I met growing up and while in the military. I have drifted so far away from everyone I feel like I’m stuck on a lonely island. Again it was never an issue with why I stopped calling, texting or emailing. I just for some reason did.

Then there are the ones that did me wrong or that I may have done wrong. Its time to bury the hatchet and move on. I want to somehow make things right again if possible.

This has been pretty heavy on my mind for a while but the recent sudden and unexpected death of a friend kind of pushed it to the forefront.

Okay. So here is my problem. Well, I take that back. Its not really a problem. My issue is with this whole ‘its okay to be gay’ campaign or movement or whatever is going on. While I am not homophobic I do feel some kind of way about it. Its not really the campaign or movement itself but moreso the whole attitude around it. Some of these campaigns are so aggressive that it makes me think ‘damn is something wrong with me for being heterosexual?’ Seriously. I feel that way sometimes.

While I’m all for individuality and being comfortable I your own skin don’t make me feel bad because I’m not like you. I know people in the gay community are going to say that this happens to them all the time, which is true, but at the same time if you know how that makes you feel then why do that to someone else?

The whole it gets better campaign is cool but damn if it doesn’t make you feel worse if you’re getting picked on and you’re not gay. Does it get better for them? You know gay kids aren’t the only ones getting bullied and/or committing suicide. I’m not saying to stop with the whole it gets better thing but they should be mindful that there are more kids getting bullied for other things than being gay and they probably feel worse than the kids who chose to be gay.

I know that they say that they are born gay and all and for some of them that may be the case but definitely not all. I know of 3 couples that are gay because of past relationships gone bad and if the right person of the opposite sex came along they would be back to their heterosexual selves. Nowadays being gay is the cool thing to do in high school. Its not about a real relationship or feelings for the same sex it’s about what everyone else is doing on TVs or around campus. Seriously.

And on another topic closely related. I was talking to a Co worker of mine one day. We were just discussing different shows, actors and actresses that we liked. While we were discussing actresses she Brought up Nikki Blonsky. For those that don’t know, she has been in a number of movies such as hairspray, and some other crap I don’t Care to mention. Anyway we started talking about the roles that she played and realized that she always.played.fat people that were wronged because they were fat. She’s like an advocate for fat people. Seriously. I said that I didn’t like her because of this. I don’t like anyone to tell.me that I have to like them regardless of their size, gender, race or sexual preference. I don’t have to like you just because of that and I don’t have to accept you just because of that. Her whole stance is that I should.except her because she’s fat no matter what. No ma’am. Not happening. I like people regardless of what they look like or who they choose to date. That stuff doesn’t matter to me.

Now I know I’m going to catch a bit of flack for my statements but I really don’t care. I feel how I feel and I know I’m not alone. As I said I support the whole ‘it gets Berger’s campaign or movement but sometimes it does make me wonder if there is something wrong with me for being straight according to the videos in the campaign. Does it get better for kids that aren’t being bullied because they are gay but for other reasons?

I’m just sayin’

Okay maybe it’s just me. Maybe because I have an android phone and noticed that I could opt out of sending my data. Why is it such a big uproar about our smartphones tracking us? I mean I understand some people are all about it being a privacy issue and thinks that the info could be used for harm but how do you think your phone knows the best restaurants around you anywhere you go? Or what about the weather? How do you think our phone locates where you are anywhere around the country and updates the weather application to tell you how hot or cold it is there?
What about third party apps like foursquare? How do you think they know where you are? Bottom line, I think that people are overreacting to the situation. Again, this may be because my android phone let’s me opt out if I choose and if I choose to opt in, it tells me that my location and information is being tracked and could be sent back to Google. Chill people. You already overshare as is so why are you getting mad because the company is tracking your dumb ass? That GPS isn’t just there to guide you home.

I’m just sayin’

Why is everybody ganging up on this lil 13 year old tone deaf girl? I mean she had a dream to be a famous singer, her parents brought her to this place to make her a star. Nobody says anything about Rihanna’s tone deaf behind! What about them chicks from back in the day Total? Yeah they were horrible.

This girl is only 13 years old and the world thinks that the one thing that she wants to do is the worst song in history? Wow. Remember when you were 13? remember how something small and insignificant could cause you to feel like you were having a nervous breakdown? Remember the whole no hate and stop bullying campaign that these same sites and people that are picking on her participated in? Now God forbid but what if this girl commits suicide because of this? I mean this thing has been on every news outlet and all over the internet as a joke.

While I do think the song is bad it is far from the worst song ever or even half as bad as people are making it out to be. The dame girl is 13! What did you expect her to be singing about the conflict in Lybia? C’mon son! Y’all are really bugging out. This just shows how people will tear anybody down in order to get a couple more hits on their site or a little more airtime on radio or TV.

Y’all some hypocritical mother fuckers. You can’t say don’t bully people when this is the ultimate case of bullying! I can’t believe grown ass people are talking about a damn 13 year old. Same thing when Justin Beiber and any other young kid comes out. They are not making music for 30 year olds! it’s for kids their own age so why are you commenting on it anyway?

Sorry but this thing has me upset because even though I don’t think she has talent she doesn’t deserve to be treated the way she’s being treated.

I know this is kind of rambling and all over the place and vague but I just have to say something about this situation.

I’ve been following the protests in Egypt on http://WWW.English.aljazeera.net since the beginning and I must say that I am very proud of and wish nothing but good things for the anti-government/Mubarak protesters. They started this with a mission and that was for peaceful demonstrations until Mubarak is gone. They have so far held up their end of the bargain.

I think that is was great and awe inspiring to see nearly 2 million people filled Tahrir square also known as Liberation square in Cairo as well as hundreds of thousands in Alexandria as well as all over Egypt on Tuesday to mark a full week of peaceful protests. Too bad that it had to come to violence on wedsnesday when the pro Mubarak supporters showed up, allegedly bussed in by the government and some discovered to be undercover police, and began attacking the peaceful protesters. Violence never solves anything. Even though they were attacked they are still holding their ground and not backing down from their position.

This is a testament to the power of the people. When you believe strongly about a cause then there is nothing that can stop you. People don’t understand what it is that these Egyptians have been through and as Americans I don’t think that we will ever really understand what it is that they deal with. As we worry about things like when the iPhone is coming out for Verizon they are worried about how they are going to eat for the night. The majority of these protesters are not just doing it just to be in the group, they are fighting for a better life. Too often the people will work today to feed their family tonight literally.

There are too many dynamics to really get into so I’ll just say that they deserve better. They have been under this regime for over 30 years and its time for a change. Yes I know that its easy for me to say that while I sit here in America and watch what is happening across the world safe and sound. While I’m not naive or ignorant enough to believe that democracy should be in every country, in this case I believe it is time for something new because the current regime is not working.

The problem I have is that the anti government protesters are organized yet they have no leader or political party to take over once Mubarak steps down. They are calling for him and his party to step down but who will step up?

I really hate when people ask me questions like “are there any good men/women left” or say things like ” all the good men/women don’t exist anymore” or that they are either “married, gay or both”. That really irks me because it is so not true. There are and will always be good men and women out there because of asinine people that think this way.

I may be biased because I have already found my Queen but to think that there aren’t any good people left out here is ludicrous. It’s not that there aren’t any out here its that you’ve probably been looking in the wrong places for the wrong things.

This reminds me of people that go in the kitchen and say ” there’s nothing to eat in here” but the someone else goes in there looks around for a bit and comes out with a sandwich, some chips, and a drink. The first person wasn’t looking in the right places.

Sometimes its not so much about what you’re looking for as it is about where you’re looking. You cant find filet mignon if you only eating at McDonald’s drive thru.

You have to be able to look past all that stuff that other people are doing and where they are searching and find your own path. The path you choose should be your own. That goes for finding a mate as well as life in general.

North and South Korea exchange gunfire killing 2 South Korean Marines. Now the South Korean leader Lee Myang-Bak, is threatening to retaliate. President Obama has already called Myang – Bak about the incident and has pledged his alliance. How long do you think before we are even more active in this battle between the North and South? The world has already condemned the actions of North Korea on numerous occasions. This could be the beginning of something of the likes that we have not seen in a long time. World War III? I hate to say it but anything is possible in a situation like this. A powerful nation that is condemned and hated by the majority of the rest of the world performing heinous, violent and negative acts towards another country that is an ally with other parts of the world. I surely hope that this does not turn into something uglier than what it already is but it is definitely headed in that direction.

Okay, so I’m only going to address this once, I’m probably lying and will talk about it again at some point but anyway. All you adults or should I say people over the age of say 18 need to stop with all the hate on Willow Smith and Justin Beiber. I mean honestly these kids! If you don’t like it then so what! It wasn’t meant for you in the first place. You have got to be some kind of low life person to hate on a 9 year old girl making music for other 9 year old girls. Like for real, that’s what it’s come to?

I admit, I am a little sick of hearing them both but I’m also sick of hearing waka flocka as well. It’s not that I don’t like Willow and Justin but to hear ten constantly everyday can be a bit much. I actually like the songs but on repeat all day everyday would drive me crazy. There is a difference between hating on the repetition and hating on the artist.

It just amazes and angers me to see grown people on twitter, Facebook, tumblr, and all these other forms of social networking hating on some kids that are making music for other kids. Key phrase is kids making music for OTHER KIDS! If you’re over say 16 and you like them then fine but if you’re over 16 and hating then there is something definitely wrong with you. I mean they make music for their age group. You may be too old to whip your hair and not get dizzy, I know I am trust me I tried, but that doesn’t give you the right to hate.

Children should respect their elders but the elders must respect the children as well. It is a two way street.

I’m just sayin’
Sincere
