Worth A Thousand Words…

So my little brother Brran has started this new picture blog called Visual Expression. Here’s how it works, He takes photos and posts them like everyday and enlists feedback and I personally think that it’s a dope idea. He’s been at it for a couple of weeks now and I can already see improvement. Not that I’m this photographic expert or anything but I can see subtle changes.
Anyway, his work is phenomenal and I’m not just saying that because he’s my brother. He’s even inspired me to get out and take more shots, besides the quatrillion shots of Boogie! He also put me on to this site called digital-photography-school.com. They give great advice on how to improve your photgraphy game and in their open forum section they have a weekly assignment. I’ve participated in some, but chickened out before adding them for critique.
Now, I’m not going to go as far as starting a new blog just for my photos, but I will from time to time add them here and when I switch over to my own dot com or dot net I may add a tab just for them. Let me know what you think.

I personally like the sun coming through the trees pic myself.

The Game Season 3 Episode 18 Recap

This episode starts with Tasha stopping by to see Chauncey. She goes on about how she feels that her failing relationships are somehow Chauncey’s fault and that she needs to cleanse herself of his evil. As she’s going on and on about how he left her and such his wife & daughter come knocking at the door. come to find out, she acts just like Tasha. She even calls him punk ass Chauncey as well! Malik walks in & meets the family and is ecstatic to have a little sister. When he finds out that she sings, he offers to sign her to his label. *yeah remember when he was trying to do that rap thing? That’s when he started his own label.* When his little sister, Poochie *yes that’s her name* reaches into her bag to get a demo he notices her tattoo *yep in the cum catcher spot!* and realizes that he may have slept with her. * Funny that he didn’t recognize her face yet the cum catcher is what triggered it.*

At the training facility… Malik is now really thinking that he’s slept with his half-sister and seeks council from his boys Jason, Derwin, and Javon. Of course all they have is jokes. They tell him not to worry because he probably didn’t sleep with her and there’s no way that he would remember because of all the women he slept with. To prove this theory correct, Jason asks who he slept with last night and he couldn’t remember. *In his defense I’m not good with names either, but I remember faces, marks, tattoos & such well*.

Over at the Pitts residence… Med School & Kelly are talking and *you guessed it* drinking as they wait on Tasha to tell them some big news. The big news is that she thinks Punk ass Chauncey still wants her because his wife is just like her. * I think she’s dillusional* they think she’s crazy and just ‘hanging on’ to Chauncey.

Checking in at Malik’s Place… so to find out if he really slept with his half sister or not, with the help of Tee Tee he decides to go through his sex tape collection. they find the tape and he realizes that he slept with her because of the centipede tattoo.

Back at Chauncey’s hotel… Tasha shows up, unannounced. *okay I’m going to hope  the names ‘Poochie & Moochie’ are just nicknames*. She decided to show up when she heard that Malik was taking his half sister and her mom shopping. She tells him that she figures out what’s been going on all this time. He was so in love with her that he had to go and get someone just like her as a replacement. He tries to fight off her advances and tells her that he hasn’t been in love with her since he was 18 and that he doesn’t want her. She then forces herself onto him and tries to kiss him! *whoa, she is really getting thirsty! Almost as bad as med school*. As he’s fighting her off and she’s fighting to stay on him, his wife walks in! She says that she knew this would happen because Tasha still has feelings for him, calls him ‘naive ass Chauncey’ and runs out of the room, he tries to chase after her to no avail. Realizing that she’s possibly ruined his marriage he kicks Tasha out.

Meanwhile at Mailk’s Crib… Malik and his half sister * I refuse to call her Poochie anymore* come back from a day of shopping.  He sits her down to tell her that he knows that they slept together and that he taped it. She denies it so he goes to the footage, come to find out, he actually didn’t sleep with her, it was her best friend from high school. They got matching tattoos, but the girl Malik slept with has a tattoo of a butterfly on her shoulder. Little sis doesn’t. * Whew! No incest err.. Half incest going on over there!*

Over at the hotel… Chauncey is on the phone and tells his daughter that if she hears from Sheila to tell her to come back to the hotel or call him. As soon as he hangs up there’s a knock on the door. *Guess who it is?*  It’s Tasha! She comes over to tell him that she’s through dealing with him and that he can go back to Atlanta and live his life. *How can he? I thiink she’s just ruined his life/marriage* He tells her how he could have handled things better instead of running off when she got pregnant and that he knew better but just didn’t handle the situation correctly. He regrets that. As they reconsile and hug, Sheila walks in again on them! Tasha actually apologizes and tells Sheila that she should be happy that Chauncey doesn’t want her even though she is in love with him and to be grateful for what she has. ending this episode as she walks out of the hotel room.

Okay this episode was, umm… kind of boring. I mean there were a few chuckles spread out here and there but overall kind of a bore. The main focus of this episode was Tasha thinking that Chauncey somehow still wanted her because his wife is just like her. Just because he gets someone like her doesn’t mean he wants her. That could just be his type. Right? Thinking like that is the reason she can’t keep a man!
Oh yeah, I’m going to need the writers to come up with better nicknames. Tee Tee was borderline, but Moochie & Poochie? Come on now!!
Malik thinks he slept with his sister? I mean, I understand that they are trying t make it like Malik is this big playboy or whatever, but to have slept with that many women with no disease or children is astonishing! More like unbelievable to be more exact. I could see it, then again she would have said something to him at some point if they did sleep together without him having to go to the tapes. Right?

The next episode is going to be on and cracking though! Med School and Derwin get engaged! Yes, you read it right. Engaged! he breaks it off with Janay and goes right back to Melanie and they are going to get married! I’m so dissapointed right now. I know all you team Melanie members are ecstatic right now, but remember this is close to the season or series finale so there’s no telling what type of plot twists can happen. I’m going to keep my fingers crossed that they don’t get married and he leaves her at the alter.

Asher Roth – Asleep In The Bread Aisle Album Review

The much hyped debut album from newcomer Asher Roth was
finally released on 4/20/09. He has been receiving acclaim and buzz ever since
Don Cannon and DJ Drama joined forces to drop the mixtape known as the Greenhouse
Effect
. Seems every rapper relevant in the game is co signing for him.
Let’s see if he can live up to the hype and deliver.

Lark On My Go-Kart
The simplicity of this beat reminds me of that old school hip hop beastie boys’
type music. He rides the beat rather well on this track even though he’s not
really saying anything of much substance, but he does have a nice flow.

Blunt Cruisin’ – A
fast paced track about cruising around town smoking a blunt. Once again he is
able to flow effortlessly on this one. This is a pretty simple song, nothing
much to talk about.

I Love
College
– The
smash single off the album. This song is easily one of the best songs on the
album and most likely the reason a lot of people bought/downloaded it. Sticking
with the formula of simple repetitive beats and a nice flow, he recreates a
night as a college student. On a side note the remix with Jim Jones and/or Bun
B is nice, so check for it.

La Di Da – This Don Cannon produced gem is a
little more intricate instrumentally than the others. This is a definite
banger. He tries to explain the trials of his life and how he deals with the
stress.

Be By Myself Ft Cee Lo – With this assist of Cee
Lo and a mean Organ sample Asher flows impressively. Once again he’s not really
impressing me lyrically but I can’t deny the flow. Cee Lo on the hook isn’t a
bad look either as he raps about his lack of a love life.

She Don’t Wanna Man – This rock track is full of
mixed emotions. I like the track but I don’t think he did it justice. It seems
as if he was just throwing words together, nothing made much sense. As the song
goes on the broken flow becomes tolerable but it takes some getting used to.

Sour Patch Kids – The buildup to this track seems
to take forever. A 30 second build up seems like an eternity in this fast paced
society. If not for this review I would have already skipped to the next track.
The buildup is somewhat worth it as he keeps me occupied with a fast paced flow
over this track.

As I Em Ft Chester French – He explains how
different he is to Eminem while sounding just like a young Marshall Mathers.
This Chester
French assisted track seems to be a somewhat ode to Eminem while still letting
everyone know that he’s different from the ‘other white rapper’.

Lion’s Roar Ft New Kingdom & Busta Rhymes
This drum and clap heavy track is futuristic and fast, allowing Asher to show
off his fast tongued flow. The beat is also perfect for his counterpart Busta
as he returns to true form and rips this track apart.

Bad Day Ft Jazze Pha – With an assist from super
producer Jazze Pha, Asher tells a story of how a bad day becomes worse. He
seems to be a great story teller when he wants to be.

His Dream – Here he effectively uses the slow
melodic track to tell a story about dreaming of the future and becoming what
you dreamed of being. Once again he narrates a great story. This seems somewhat
autobiographical as he tells of his father’s dream now becoming his.

Fallin - On this track he reminisces of his youth
and how he always wanted to be a rapper. The beat is okay and he seems to flow
effortlessly.

After listening to this entire album I have to say that I
don’t believe the hype. I do believe that he has the ability to be great and go
far in this industry but he seems to fall short at times. He’s a great story
teller as demonstrated in Bad Day and His Dream but he has too many songs without any
type of lyrical substance, such as Lark On My Go-Kart and She Don’t Wanna Man, to back up this
much hyped debut.
The simplicity of the beats at times helped and at times hurt
this project. Overall, I give this album a
2.5 out of 5. Though I’m sure this is on constant repeat in just about
every dorm around the country, for me it’s not worth it. Maybe next time, if
there is a next time, he’ll be able to better capture my attention.
