I love love love bags. Messenger bags, duffel bags, bookbags, you name it. While I was checking out Nordstrom.com for some spring/summer clothing ideas I came across a story in their Men’s shop daily section about these custom duffel bags.

These bags are all done by various designers and are being sold on Ebay with all the proceeds going to charity. There are some really nice and different duffel bags. all 1 of 1.

So last night my car was broken into. This freaking sucks. They got away with one of my favorite messenger bags, a duffle bag with some of my sample ties in it, and some of my sneakers. Y’all know I’m a sneaker head so this hurt me the most.  I’m so pissed right now and there is pretty much not a thing that I can do.

I filed a police report but there are no cameras anywhere around the parking lot. How are there no cameras at a mall parking lot? Bullshit. I think this may have been a sign that I don’t need to be working at my second job anymore. It’s not like I was working there for the money bit more of the experience and of course the discount. I’m putting in my two week notice and calling it a wrap. I hate to leave but something has to give.

I think the robbery was the final straw. I mean working 7 days a week takes a toll on the body and mind. Not to mention going to school and trying to spend time with the family as well. Too much strain and it was starting to cause other problems as well.  I’m done. For now.

Fear is one of those secondary emotions that can either cripple you or strengthen you. I never believe people when they say that they were “fearless” when it came to something they had to do. I don’t think it was that they were fearless but more so strengthened or not paralyzed by that fear. Or they were more accurately less fearful as opposed to being actually fearless.

I was listening to Joyce Meyer’s podcast and she said something that made me perk up and take notice. She said “courage is not the absence of fear, but the will to press forward in the face of fear”. She was/is right. I need to press on in the face of fear. That is true courage. Something that I have been lacking of lately.

Once I get over my fear of doing things wrong and focus on what I’m doing right than I will be able to move on. I tend to beat myself up when something goes wrong and with that 20/20 hindsight I see what I should have done. I can no longer live in the past. I need to have the courage to move on and learn from my mistakes. Facing my fears is the only way to deal with them and make me a better person.

Okay so I know that this list came out in 2007 but I’m going to work my way through the AFI top 100 movies. The first movie, or 100th movie depends on how you look at it, is Ben Hur. Thankfully I have Netflix and hulu plus so I can just either stream it or “rent” the dvd from netflix. I believe they have the list on the site and a way to go through them all. This is going to be fun!

I stumbled upon this show because my dvr was already scheduled to record Downton Abbey on Masterpiece theatre. Since Downton Abbey’s season is over this was the replacement.

I had no idea what this show was about or anything. I thought is was a movie that Jeremy Piven did to waste time but the more I watched it the more I like it. This is a inspired by the story if the London store Selfridge and Company and the founder Mr. Selfridge. Jeremy Piven is excellent as the title character. It is a British drama set in the early days so it does have that Downton or Upstairs Downstairs feel of seeing things from the eyes of the upper crust as well as the “common” people. You should check it out when you get a chance. It comes on PBS’ masterpiece theater Sundays at 9pm

So I’m checking out one of my favorite fashion sites, Modern Notoriety and I come across something that is both hilarious and dope at the same time. I have this love affair with Nike’s Dunk line as well as their Huaraches. I especially love the SB (skateboard) Dunks in highs, mid and low. One of my favorite shoe designers beside Tinker Hatfield is Stefan Janoski.

With all that said I couldn’t help but laugh at their latest project. As kind of a joke they came out with a pair of Velcro Nike sneakers called the SE Velcro. This, as well as the title of the post, is a play off of a line from the popular song “Thrift Shop” by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis.  In the song he raps about buying some Velcro shoes from said Thrift shop and having all the sneaker heads saying ” Damn, He got the Velcro’s. what do you think dope or nope?

Okay so I have the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 aka the phablet or big ass phone and it comes with a stylus. For some of my friends that aren’t as lucky Wacom has a solution. The Wacom Bamboo Stylus mini. This stylus is kind of cool. It attaches to your headphone jack so you won’t have to worry about losing it.  They retail at $14.95 and a few different colors are available in case you want to get afew to match your phone’s color or the color of your case.  If you want something that is a little bigger than there is always the Bamboo Stylus Pocket. This stylus has a more similar feel to a pen because of it’s size.

Wacom is a great company and have a variety of tech products. For more info about this and other products you can check the website at wacom.com

There are two things that I love. Film and fashion. The Great Gatsby seems to have both of these loves in one. I love the fashion of that era. Men in Tuxedos, women dressed with extravagent accesories, I just love it!. With compnies like Brooks Brothers and Prada on board I know that the clothes will be on point. With Actors like Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey McGuire on board the movie should be a hit as well.

The movie hits theaters may 10th.

I just received the new Jawbone Up 2nd generation this weekend. I have been using the Nike+ Fuelband for about a year now and wanted to compare some of the other similar devices on the market. Even though I have only had it a few days I feel that it can and will be a strong competitor to the Fuelband.Â

I have a bit of a shoe fetish.  I don’t really consider myself a ‘sneakerhead’ because while I do have a good amount of sneakers I’m just not on that level. Whether You’re a sneakerhead or not you should keep your shoes clean. They should stay clean not only for appearance’s sake but also because they will last longer.

When that toothpaste/brush (trust me on this, it works wonders) and water just won’t work or you want to step it up than there is a product for you. the Jason Markk Premium sneaker kit.  Wellgosh.com is one of my favorite sites and I ran across this product the other day.  Jason Markk is the ish when it comes to sneaker cleaners, this stuff cleans all types from leathers to suedes to mesh (which is damn near impossible to clean) and even canvas. The kit is only $22.86 on wellgosh.com so it can’t hurt.

Organic jeans? Yep. Well at least in the name, I’m not sure if the jeans are actually organic. how would you make organic jeans? More than likely from some raw virgin or chemical free material.  Nudie Jeans has a new American cotton/Japanese selvage made denim that is organic and only limited to 480 pairs.  Nudie Jeans is a pretty repsonsible company, they make things like rugs out of recycled jeans and such.

These jeans are  a little too expensive for my taste at $265 a pair but if you have those types of pockets or just want to check them out here’s the link.

I’ve been a fan of the Diamond Supply Co for some years now. Even though I feel like they are a bit pricey and the quality seems to have diminished a bit, not much but just a little, over the years I’m still a fan.  later next month they will be releasing their Yacht Club collection to coincide with the new release of the summer collection. From what I’ve seen so far, it’s going to be pretty dope.

The collection consists of tees and the Diamond cut (their version of a boat shoe) and the silhouette in lighter more airy colors, like the light baby blues, red, yellows and pinks.  I can’t wait to get my hands on some of these soon.
